VERONIKA WILDGRUBER explores appealing contrasts
- By Editorial Team
- September 18, 2024
The new collection by Berlin-based designer, Veronika Wildgruber is described as “dissolving the boundaries between the second and third dimensions”. Characteristics include lines which emerge from subtracting volume and sophisticated colour compositions explored through the layering and bevelling of specially developed acetate materials.
Inspired by architecture, the future, and geometry the new series includes model Rick and model Pris. Model Rick is characterised by a bold and geometric design, embodying a raw, unapologetic aesthetic. Like parts of a perfect machine, the acetate frame intersects with the aluminium bar, creating a sophisticated bond. Minimal, clean lines, emphasising simplicity and elegance, contrast with brutalist, substantial volumes. Model Pris has an aluminium bar across the top is the defining structural element, reminiscent of the stark, functional lines characteristic of Brutalist architecture. The smooth acetate surface contrasts with the rigid aluminium. The round lenses and horizontal bar mirror the Brutalist principles of exposed materials and structural elements.
