The world of skiing is one of those sports specialties steeped in tradition, dominated by brands that have been entrenched since the inception of the sport itself. For decades, shopping for fine ski wear meant selecting one a multitude of esteemed heritage brands renowned for technical quality, craftsmanship, and durability. The focus on fashion and accessories wasn’t the primary focus on the ski slopes. However, the ski universe has now evolved into a new realm of fashion. After all, what is a slope if not some kind of snowy catwalk?
In 2014, Net-a-Porter unveiled a dedicated ski shop, marking a shift. In 2020, Dior presented its first ski collection. Since these milestone events, a cascade of collaborations and luxurious capsule collections have emerged, from Prada to Isabel Marant. Miu Miu even staged its autumn/winter 2021 collection in an Italian Dolomites refuge, exuding a genuine ode to après ski chic.
Even accessories, especially goggles and ski masks, are relishing a (long) moment of exceptional popularity. Brands such as Oakley supported by famous influencers, have elevated these accessories into true must-haves: accessories necessary for hit-making have never looked so good.
Worn on the slopes, these ski designs not only offer high performance and protection, they also round off the attire of the contemporary winter sports enthusiasts… From the vibrant hues of Uvex lenses to the logomania offered by brands like Gucci, these ski goggles transmute functionality into an authentic expression of fashion.
