Millmead Optical Group has marked its 80th anniversary with a special event at Soho House’s 180 House in Central London, where around 150 industry partners, friends of the business and journalists came together to recognise the company’s journey and look ahead to its future. The occasion also marks the forthcoming publication of a commemorative anniversary book, recognising the people, partnerships and progress that have helped shape Millmead since it was founded in 1946. Speaking about the anniversary, CEO James Conway said: “Celebrating 80 years is a significant milestone for the business, but more importantly it was an opportunity to thank the people who have been part of our journey. “We are incredibly grateful to our customers, suppliers, colleagues and industry partners, past and present, whose trust, support and collaboration have helped shape Millmead into the business it is today. The relationships we have built across the industry have been fundamental to our success and remain one of our greatest strengths. “While this anniversary is a chance to reflect on how far we have come, it is also an opportunity to look ahead. Innovation has always been at the heart of Millmead, from our manufacturing heritage through to our continued investment in lenses, automation, UK manufacturing and emerging technologies.

We remain committed to driving progress and supporting our partners as the industry continues to evolve.” Non-Executive Chairman Daniel Thorn added: “The evening was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the people and partnerships that have played such an important role in Millmead’s success. Bringing together so many individuals and businesses who have been part of our story created a real sense of pride in what has been achieved. “There was a strong sense of optimism about the future. The business has continually evolved throughout its history and that forward-thinking approach, combined with a commitment to innovation and partnership, continues to drive us forward.” The anniversary celebration highlighted the strong relationships, shared ambition and collaborative spirit that continue to underpin the business today. Looking ahead, Millmead remains focused on investing in people, developing new technologies and strengthening the partnerships that will support its continued growth. 20/20 Europe’s Matilde Sometti (Publisher) and Clodagh Norton (Editor-in-Chief) attended the event in person.
