LORRAINE BERTON appointed as new president of ANFAO

Lorraine Berton has been elected to lead ANFAO, the National Association of Optical Article Manufacturers. The new President, who will lead the Association for the next 4 years, succeeds Giovanni Vitaloni, who has held the position since 2017. The nomination took place on the occasion of the end-of-year ANFAO Assembly, in the splendid setting of the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice.
“Transparency, involvement, innovation and quality are the founding values of the presidencies that preceded me and which have always accompanied me in my experience in the Confindustria System”, said Berton in a statement on the election. “My mission is to continue on this path of excellence, strengthening these principles and adapting them to the challenges that our sector and the world in general faces and will face in the next 4 years”.
“The programme of the team I will lead is the result of in-depth analysis of what we have experienced and faced in the recent past”, she added.
“We have learnt that market speed is no longer the only aspect to consider; we must address the “stability of uncertainty” and recognize the increasingly evident interconnection between the environment, economics, politics and society. In this context, we must seriously engage in a constant transition towards sustainable development".
Berton, who is the former ANFAO Vice President with responsibility for Industrial Relations, has vast experience in the sector. She is an entrepreneur, and the owner, with her sister Elena, of the company ARLECCHINO SRL which has been producing glasses for 35 years and of TWO B SRL. She also has expertise in the Confindustria System, where she currently holds the position of President of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti.
The first important events that President Berton and her team will be involved in will be the training program dedicated to managers of associated companies as part of the Empowering Optical Woman Leadership project which will start in December, the finalization and launch of the CSE Certified sustainability certification (Certified Sustainable Eyewear) and, MIDO which will take place in Milan from 3rd to 5th February 2024.
