This year, the 3d printed collections showing at Opti and MIDO were among the innovation highlights in contemporary eyewear design.
From the design point of view, a growing number of collections are combining 3d printed materials with other eyewear materials to create very contemporary frames that are robust and lightweight, as well as eye-catching in structure, colour and texture. MYKITA, J.F. REY, Ørgreen Optics, Götti Switzerland and several others are doing this, with results that are luxurious, refined and often beautifully sculptural or avant-garde with a notable variation in design style and use of colour, across the board.
This month, we also wanted to say our personal thank you to our long-term colleague, Marge Axelrad who has recently retired from her role as SVP at Vision Monday – VMAIL Group – New York…
