Independent eyewear brand, RANSOME + JENKIN launched in UK

Designed by Jack Ransome Lupton, British-based optometrist and craftsman, and Lawrence Jenkin, British designer, optician and master frame maker, the new brand Ransome + Jenkin is described as eyewear inspired by London, produced in Italy by Solmar Eyewear. Based on the experience of the founders, the collection aims to offer opticians frames which reflect true craftsmanship, technical integrity and a strong and recognisable identity. The line launched at 100% Optical this Spring with six models named after locations in London. They include model Bow, a half-moon “designed for those who enjoy being underestimated”. The frame has an arched bridge which is particularly eye-catching while chunky proportions keep it modern and fresh. Classic round shape Brixton and square design Kensington reflect the bold yet smart and wearable character of the styles which work with traditional details but avoid any feeling of looking dated. The custom-engineered hinges and rivets are modelled on the attractive hardware used for acetate frames in the 1950s.
