November 20, 2020

Reed Exhibitions Japan and Fukui Optical Association held the 33rd edition of Asia’s leading optical fair - INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR TOKYO (IOFT) at Tokyo Big Sight, in Japan from 27th to 29th October 2020. Despite the global pandemic, 146 exhibitors were able to showcase their products across the exhibition hall. According to the organisers, while many trade shows were postponed or canceled under the circumstances, IOFT was considered to have been “a significant contribution to the business of the optical industry,” in Japan. Major brands and manufacturers from Japan and further afield exhibited including Sunreeve, Mondottica Japan, Yabushita, TOPCON and NIDEK. Firms from Fukui, the largest eyewear production region of Japan, were also participating to showcase their proud made-in-Japan frames such as: Eyetec, Sanko Kogaku, Taniguchi Optical, Hug Ozawa, and Boston Club. IOFT 2020 was described as a “remarkable success” in part owing to a number of international designers exhibiting via subsidiaries or distributors in Japan where they themselves were unable to attend due to travel restriction. They included LINDBERG (Denmark), THEO (Belgium), IC! BERLIN (Germany), J.F.REY (France), LAFONT Paris (France), FLEYE (Denmark), KOMOREBI (Belgium), FALVIN (Denmark), RIGARDS (USA), FACE A FACE (France), PRODESIGN DENMARK (Denmark), MOKKI (Norway), and TONYSAME (Japan/HongKong). The Next IOFT 2021 will take place on 18th to 20th October, 2021 at Tokyo Big Sight (West Hall), Japan.
