ColorMatic® by RODENSTOCK established as independent technology brand

The Rodenstock Group has announced this season that it has established ColorMatic® as an independent technology brand. According to the company, Rodenstock’s ColorMatic® lenses offer the highest brand quality based on 100% German development and engineering. To emphasise this technology, the decision was taken to position the ColorMatic® self-tinting ophthalmic lenses as an independent technology brand with a specific brand design.

“We are proud to introduce our innovative photochromic lens technology ColorMatic® as an independent brand. With our in-depth knowledge of German engineering, we are deeply committed to delivering the highest level of quality and innovation to our customers and are working tirelessly to push the technological boundaries of photochromic technology,” says Dr Dietmar Uttenweiler, Executive Vice President Innovation.

The new positioning of ColorMatic® demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and product development and represents Rodenstock’s high-quality photochromic technology with its own brand design, the company states. The newly developed hexagon logo stands for a photochromic molecule that represents the technology through a colour gradient. The associated tagline “Engineering photochromic performance” refers to the outstanding in-house expertise and the endeavour to redefine the limits in terms of performance and speed. To enable partner opticians to make the appeal of this state-of-the-art technology visible to their customers, ColorMatic® now appears as an independent technology brand with a new visualisation.

ColorMatic® is an innovative and high-performance technology for photochromic lenses offering protection against harmful UV light, artificial blue light and glare. When UV light hits the surface of the lens, the high-end photochromic molecules in the lens react. The molecules change the structure and adapt to the changing light conditions, causing the lens to darken. When the wearer returns to the interior, the glass automatically becomes clear again. This ensures that the optimal amount of light is allowed through the lens, optimising the wearer’s visual comfort. For light-sensitive spectacle wearers in particular, ColorMatic® offers relaxed vision thanks to the tinting in appropriate light conditions.
