ACEP introduces a new version of Smart Mirror AI

The new version of Smart Mirror AI is a state-of-the-art measurement device, driven by artificial intelligence. Using two guided photos taken with the patient wearing their new chosen frame, the system analyses essential frame-fitting parameters with high precision and reliable repeatability. The automatically analyzed optical parameters include:
- frame wrap angle
- vertex distance
- pantoscopic tilt
- near-vision positioning (calculated from standard distance measurements)
- lens-shape recognition for frame geometry analysis.
Beyond measurement, Smart Mirror AI provides an augmented visualization of the patient wearing their selected frames, including simulations of prescription effects and lens treatments (anti-reflective, polarized, photochromic, etc.). This helps professionals offer clearer explanations during consultations and enhances patient understanding. A dedicated Selfie mode also allows patients to compare different styles directly in the practice, enriching the selection experience. ACEP received the 2025 SILMO d’Or in the Material/Equipment category for Smart Mirror AI.
