After the success of VEA®, the Virtual Eyewear Assistant technology created and launched by Thema, the Veneto company has inaugurated its first shop in Torino in March. Called VEA, the boutique is entirely dedicated to custom-made eyewear, with exclusive services and features.
The concept is a shop where the customers are the stars, and where everything revolves around their eyewear preferences and specific needs, from shapes to colours and from customisation to the choice of materials. It is a cutting-edge shop because biometric eyeglass frames will be created right then and there, thanks to the innovative and exclusive technology used by Thema, says the company.
A three-lens camera installed on a tablet scans the customer’s face in just a few minutes and constructs a true-to-life 3D image. This can be used to try a variety of eyewear models to simulate different looks. Once the ideal frame has been found, the customer can choose the type of lens, colour, and any customisation options with the optician’s assistance. At this point, the model will be put into production and after about 20 minutes, the first basic model can be tried on, exactly as you would at a high fashion boutique. The VEA Store will be equipped with an eyewear production machine and a complete laboratory for finishing. The final model will be delivered within 24 hours, according to the company.
