OKIA has announced that the company has received the ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), a globally recognised certification that offers solutions to address sustainability requirements for all markets. With its RESHAPETM project to produce eyewear made of 100% recycled PET material from plastic bottles, the Hong Kong-based company states that it has placed its focus on further input to a strong commitment to a more sustainable eyewear industry. "OKIA sustainability is our key vision; we started to develop eco-materials years ago, and traceability of the entire supply chain is so vital. Now, our upcycled bottle collection RESHAPETM is produced by GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified material and manufactured in our GRS and ISCC certified production site in China," says Jacky Lam, Managing Director at OKIA. The ISCC's objectives are contributing to the implementation of environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable production and use of all kinds of biomass in global supply chains. Now OKIA plans to further strengthen its supply chain with ISCC certification, which it says “means using renewable materials in the mass balance process”.
