A state-of-the-art shield from the Iconic Series

With the “Glued Visor” (P‘8664) from the Iconic series, Porsche Design has created a unique sunglasses statement combining technological innovation and functional design.
An innovative adhesive technique from the automobile industry was used in the manufacturing for the first time.
It is the so-called “Formed-in-Place-Technique” in which a robot applies a special high-tech adhesive to the titanium frame with the highest precision.

Just before the market launch, the sunglasses, which were limited to 911 specimens, were awarded the German Design Award 2019 in the “Excellent Product Design” category.
The “Glued Visor” (P‘8664) was designed in four years of development time in Studio F. A. Porsche in Zell am See and developed in cooperation with the engineers of Rodenstock in Munich. A six-axis robot fastens the high-tech adhesive to the frame with accuracy down to the millimetre. After applying the adhesive, the polycarbonate shield is placed by hand on the frame and fastened with special clamps.
The precision mounting of windscreens in motor vehicles was the inspiration for this concept, for which the same technology was used.
The “Glued Visor” (P‘8664) is delivered in an exclusive edition box including an elegant case. The innovative sunglasses are available from January 2019.
