Erkers1879 has released a limited-production collection of finely crafted eyewear, Erkers Special Reserve. The edition consists of three acetate eyeglass models, each available in four colours and designed with the heritage brand’s signature sense of tradition in mind. As a small-batch series, only one batch of each design is made, making for an exclusive style to be held by few. Combining generations of expertise and history into each frame, the collection elevates the heritage brand’s typical range with a special production process and adornments found only in this collection. Inspired by legends from their hometown, each frame features a microphone-like design along the temple exterior, symbolizing the parallel between one’s individuality and the rarity of each eyeglass. In designing the collection, the Erkers family decided “each wearer should feel as luxurious as their frame is exclusive”. To achieve that, the brand’s standard matte metal components were upgraded to a shiny silver, designing special rivets for the fronts and temples, and adding a crosshatching pattern with a silver inlay at the temple tips. Each frame is made using materials of the highest possible quality, like surgical steel and biodegradable cellulose acetate. Each acetate eyeglass is reinforced by a silver wire core, as seen through the transparent inner temple. Contrasting the clear interior, the exterior features an opaque finish for a sophisticated, timeless style. Once each frame has gone through the handcrafting process it will be tumbled in a special blend of wood, oil, and other natural materials for a remarkably soft and buttery-smooth finish.
