Article One has announced the launch of its ACTIVE collection, a five-piece collection blending signature technical innovation with luxury and vintage styling. The collection introduces a material that allows for more colour richness, lighter-weight frames, enhanced flexibility, and more scratch-resistance than traditional performance sunglasses, according to the brand. “Our activewear collection deliberately resists performance aesthetics and challenges the industry standard of technical eyewear needing to look competitive or intense,” said Article One Founder Wes Stoody. “We built our sunglasses with meticulous craftsmanship to perform in sport and transcend it. We want hikers, runners, and cyclists of all levels to own versatile eyewear that encourages personal style and movement from the saddle to the city, trail to town, or racing to relaxing.” All five frames in the 2022 ACTIVE launch are made with hexetate, a patented acrylic resin with technical and mechanical properties that allow for improved flexibility, enhanced shape memory even when exposed to high temperatures, a light weight, and added durability. Compared to most performance eyewear that utilizes traditional acetate and TR-90 plastic, hexetate requires less processing thereby reducing carbon footprints and excludes BPA, DEP and toxins. Each style in the summer collection is constructed with CR39 polarized lenses with backside anti-reflective coating that blocks 100% of UVA/UVB rays and prevents glare. The frames also feature signature adjustable nose pads, rubber temple tips, and spring hinges.
