The 19th Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS 2021) went ahead in October 2021 after two years of disruption caused by the pandemic. DIOPS Secretariat announced a total of 117 exhibitors and 10,000 domestic and overseas visitors at the recent event. 7 leading Korean brands exhibited: CLROTTE, VYCOZ, PLUME, PLASTA, KNOUN, and Frank Custom, supported by the Korean government, as well as original Korean house brands such as NINE ACCORD, DR. GRAM, TMTM, BLACK MONSTER, RAVEN TEARS, DeuMeu&, Lash, ODD Eyewear, Cover Ground, Spring strings, RANGOLLA, MARCH, M.Tate, GNGR Eyewear, and SNUG. The global brands present included MYKITA, Yellows Plus, Tart Optical, Lafont, Flair, Cazal, Rodenstock, Oliver Goldsmith, MARKUS T, Anne et Valentin, Yconcept, BJ Classic, GARRETT LEIGHT participated in DIOPS 2021 and attracted domestic and international buyers, according to the organisers. DIOPS Live Streaming Service was provided through Youtube for overseas buyers who were not able to physically visit DIOPS. DIOPS secretariat also supports exhibitor’s social media marketing by featuring many Korean influencers. The “XR pavilion” hosted by Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute (GERI) exhibited smart glasses which will be an influential device in Korea in the near future, the organisers said. An Optical conference entitled, “The future of the advanced optical industry“ took place on the second day of the event. Next year, DIOPS will be held from 20th to 22nd April 2022 in Daegu, South Korea.
