Historic tribute event held in Paris

A stunning memorial event for fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February, took place at the famous Grand Palais in Paris in June, jointly staged by fashion houses Chanel, Fendi (LVMH) and Karl Lagerfeld and directed by Robert Carsen.
The many facets of the extraordinary designer were evoked through iconic images and a series of documentaries and videos filmed throughout his life, interspersed with testimonials from people who knew him, as well as “live” contributions by actors, musicians and dancers who interpreted some of the music and literature Karl loved dearly.
Actresses Tilda Swinton, Fanny Ardant, Cara Delevingne and Helen Mirren, all friends of Karl Lagerfeld, recited and read excerpts from works by the designer’s favourite authors, such as Virginia Woolf, Stéphane Mallarmé, Colette and Edith Sitwell.

The exceptional line-up also included moving performances by Jookin dancer Lil Buck, violinist Charlie Siem, Argentinian choreographer German Cornejo, accompanied by his troupe of 17 tango dancers and his 7-piece orchestra from Buenos Aires, the celebrated pianist Lang Lang and American artist Pharrell Williams.

Over 2500 guests were present at the Grand Palais and a vast number of international celebrities, designers, royalty and friends of Lagerfeld came to Paris for the historic occasion including Anna Wintour, Charlotte Casiraghi, Tommy Hilfiger, Gigi Hadid, Ralph Lauren and Stella McCartney.
The event was attended by Marchon Eyewear’s Nicola Zotta (President), Thomas Burkhardt (CMO & SVP Global Brands), Anna Gennaro (Global Brand Director) and Gabriele Bonapersona (VP European Fashion and Lifestyle Brands). Marchon Eyewear renewed its licence with Karl Lagerfeld in 2017.

20/20 Europe's Editor in chief Clodagh Norton and 20/20 Magazine’s Executive Editor, Christine Yeh attended as guests of Marchon Eyewear.

Sunglass style inspired by
LAGERFELD’s cat Choupette

KARL LAGERFELD EYEWEAR has launched a new sunglass style inspired by Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette.

The chic style features a multilayer acetate front and colorful transparent temples; the feline silhouette is evoked by the sinuous cuts of the lenses and the cat ears engraved on the upper-front corners.

The “Choupette” pearl logo is placed on the temples for a shiny detail.
This unique pair of sunglasses are available in Mint with Crystal Rose flash lenses, Black with Havana flash lenses and Blonde Havana with Crystal Pink lenses. The new style is available in all Karl Lagerfeld boutiques and through selected retailers worldwide as well as at www.karl.com.
