100% Optical’s CET education programme, prepared by the AOP, has gone live this Autumn. Over 130 seminar topics are confirmed for the 2020 event, and these will be released in stages between now and the show for people to book. Topics are varied and cover myopia with case-led discussions and lectures that guide practitioners on how to take an evidence-based approach to myopia management; glaucoma, which will feature a masterclass in patient examination, and dry eye, which will be tackled during a discussion-based session on contemporary patient management.
A forum for the whole practice team to understand how to use social media and ensure that appropriate boundaries are followed will also be available. Additional seminars include a focus on new business standards, which will enable practice owners, managers, and registered professionals to ensure that workplace policies, practices, and systems are consistent with the GOC Business Standards. This lecture will be conducted by Dr Peter Hampson, clinical director for the AOP, and Deborah Nathan, who leads the employment team at the AOP.
Using case illustrations primarily in relation to primary open angle glaucoma, Professor John Wild, a professor of clinical vision sciences at the Cardiff School of Optometry and Vision Sciences within Cardiff University, will cover the different techniques available for the detection of visual field loss using standard automated perimetry, the corresponding interpretation, and the relationship to the structural dysfunction by optical coherence tomography. The show’s partnership with the AOP continues to deliver an education programme for all, with seminars taking place throughout the three days at the AOP lounge, Main Stage, Optical Academy and Future Practice Hub. New for 2020, the Future Practice Hub will bring to life future practice on the show floor, via a consulting room, diagnostic suite and dispensing area. In each area, tailored CET content will be delivered through discussion and handson skills workshops, and in its seminar space, the hub will offer thought-provoking education across all three days on contemporary areas of practice, offering participants valuable insight and a ‘vision for the future’.

Now in its seventh year, 100% Optical will be taking place across three days at the ExCeL London, from 25-27 January 2020 - visitor registration is now live. To book a seminar, visit:
